Why These 12 Trending Hairstyles Are Taking Over (And How to Get Them)

Whether you’re ready to mix up your look with a brand new haircut or you’re on the hunt for ways to update the same old styling routine, we’re about to give you a rundown of the hottest cuts and hairstyles this season has to offer.

From bobs and lobs and long layered lengths to the resurgence of 90s up-do’s there’s something for everybody on the list and most are pretty simple to achieve.

#1. Full Bangs

Bangs seem to be everywhere we look right now and we have to say, it’s healing our inner teenage selves seeing how stylish they look. While we obviously can’t stop you, we don’t recommend cutting bangs yourself.

Instead, head to your stylist who will happily create the look you want even if it’s not time for your regular trim.

Our advice? Use the likes of Zooey Deschanel, Zoey Deutch, and Dakota Johnson as inspiration for this hairstyle.

#2. Curtain Bangs

If full bangs are too much work for you or you’re after something a little more subtle for SS24, ask your stylist to incorporate curtain bangs into your next haircut.

The beauty is, they look just as amazing with short hair as they do with super long locks.

#3. Romantic Braided Hairstyles

From clothing and accessories to makeup and hair, the romance trend looks set to take over this season. Luckily, we have the perfect hairstyles in mind and they’re all about braids.

One single braid is chic, stylish, and low maintenance for work or weekend plans. Two braids are even cuter and work perfectly for long and short hair. Our favorite though has to be a half up style with two soft braids at the front pulled back and fastened together.

Make sure to braid your hair on a diagonal towards the back of your head. This way you won’t create any bumps when you come to pull the hair back. Fasten in place with a clear elastic or a pretty barrette of your choice.

Oh, because did we mention? Barrettes are also in!

#4. Accessories

Hairstyles with accessories will be everywhere this spring and summer and we honestly can’t wait. Try a center parting with matching clips holding your hair back on either side, or wear your hair loose and reach for a wide headband – both styles are in.

Our favorite accessory? Definitely bows. Add one to your ponytail or a romantic half-up style to instantly elevate your go-to hairstyles for the season ahead.

#5. Prom Inspired Up-Do’s

If you usually look back at your prom photos and cringe at your styling choices, you might want to check again. Prom inspired updos are officially trending with celebrities even rocking them on red carpets.

This time, rather than dousing your hair in mousse and gel to get a slicked back parting with ringlet curls, try curling your hair softly beforehand with a wide barrel curling wand. Then, pull the hair back, with a twist and secure it in place with your favorite claw clip.

This is a laid-back take on the look but if you happen to be heading to an event, use bobby pins to conceal the clip for a neater finish. Perfect the modern iteration of this look by pulling shorter pieces or curtain bangs loose at the front to softly frame your face.

#6. A Side Parting

The ultimate definition of controversial but classic, the side parting has Millennials and Gen Zers at odds. A staple of 2000s hairstyling, we’re more than happy to see it back.

Timeless, flattering, and a super simple way to instantly switch up your look with minimal effort. Lean fully into the traditional 2000s way of styling it and use a comb or brush to get a defined side part line.

For something fresher and a little more modern, style your hair in a center parting then simply flip the hair to one side. This will add tons of volume and may even satisfy the most skeptical of this look.

#7. Crimped Waves

Taking inspiration from the continued resurgence of 90s fashion trends, we’re skipping the space buns and going for crimped waves instead.

The perfect beachy look for spring and summer, these waves are less rigid and defined than their 80s/90s counterparts and embrace the style subtly for a hint of nostalgia with a modern edge.

Achieve this look with a three-barrel curler for a smooth finish or keep it simple and plait your hair before bed for mermaid waves in the morning.

#9. The Rachel

Whether you watched it the first time around or caught the show more recently on Netflix (probably both!), it’s hard to deny that ‘The Rachel’, courtesy of Jennifer Aniston’s character on Friends, was the most iconic hairstyle of the late 90s.

Well, it’s well and truly back for 2024 and even Jen is rocking a modernized version of the look again!

Ask your stylist for a mid-length bob with plenty of volume and layers, or, simply request ‘The Rachel’, they’ll know exactly what you mean.

#10. The Sculpted Flippy Bob

Frequently spotted on the red carpet this awards season, this romantic take on a bob is all about shape and texture.

Designed to frame your face with plenty of volume and ends that curve in on one side and out on the other, this cut has vibes of Old Hollywood about it and we’re totally in love.

#11. The Micro Bob

If you’re feeling something fresher and more daring for the warm-weather season, the micro bob might be just what you’re looking for.

Ask your stylist for blunt cut ends which look amazing with your hair worn straight but also work perfectly for summery waves.

The perfect hairstyle for a fresh new-season look that’s enticingly low maintenance.

#12. The Butterfly Haircut

With a combination of short and long layers, this haircut gets its name from the butterfly-like shape that they create. So, whether you’re looking to update your long locks or simply want a style that instantly frames your face, the butterfly haircut has everything you need.

It’s fresh, fun, youthful, and truly suits everyone. It also looks great down and creates much more interesting and bouncy finishes for updos too!
